Berwick Boarding Kennels LTD
The Story of Berwick Boarding Kennels
A long time ago in 1975, there was a man named Bernard Sheehan. Bernard was married to Joan and they had four children Danny, Lorraine, Deborah and Phillipa. They lived in a little cottage called Techon Fach, in a small little village called Bynea.
Bernard worked as a manager in a factory and it was a good job, but it wasn't his dream job, his dream job of working with animals. One day Bernard decided to follow his dreams and decided to leave his job and open up his own animal boarding and wife Joan followed and his dream became her dream and together they made it a reality.
They boarded dogs, cats, parrots, guinea pigs, rabbits, snakes, you name it. People came from everywhere after hearing how well they cared for the animals and eventually they decided, with such high demand to concentrate and establish as a dog boarding kennels.
Bernard and Joan established the kennels in 1975 and the kennels was open under their management for over 32 years. Throughout the years they gave life to their little cottage and made it into a family home. Their children would help walk the dogs and Berwick was run as a family business.

Unfortunately, in 2009, Bernard passed away and the business closed. With many customers upset and the business closed. Many were saddened that this was the end of Berwick Boarding Kennels and the fantastic services they loved for the many years.
In 2011, daughter Phillipa, felt there was something missing at Techon Cottage and that was dogs! She had grown up, helping mum and dad and decided with the help of her children Daniel and Jordan that it was time to open the business back up and start informing old and new customers that Berwick was back in business!

In 2014, daughter Phillipa, with such growing demand for the kennel services, decided it was time to pass the business over.
In 2014, Joan Sheehan, handed the dream keys to grandson, Chris Sheehan BSc, who set up Berwick Boarding Kennels LTD and later followed by wife Emma M Sheehan, Berwicks Barking Beauties Grooming Services.
In January 2023, Joan Sheehan turned 90. When Joan was 80, she said, "I will see you all next on the big 90th", now Joan is 90, she said after her party, "I will see you all on the next big one, my 100th", unfortunately Joan passed away September 2023.
